They typically describe the adventures of quest-seeking, legendary knights who are portrayed as having heroic qualities. Chivalric romances celebrate an idealized code of civilized behavior that combines loyalty, honor, and courtly love.   The romances Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, translated by Marie Borroff, and Le Morte d’Arthur, written by Sir Thomas Malory, tell of the heroic adventures and chivalrous deeds of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round h characterization, conflict, imagery, and diction, both works are able to express on a deeper level that every knight, no matter how great, struggles to fully.

Chivalry and culture transformed the High Middle Ages in the Song of Roland (Le Chanson de Roland) because of the fact that it provides built-in drama for the poets and storytellers. This was originally a song that’s passed down by minstrels and later written down by monks around the twelfth century.
